Two elections in a very short space of time has meant that we have been very busy over recent months.
In the Council Elections we spent time supporting student candidates, Christina Cannon and Josh Robertson in Glasgow and North Lanarkshire. We were delighted that Christina was successfully elected and were sorry that Josh didn’t make it in. We also supported a number of other local candidates as did a number of our societies around the country.
For the first time this year, we launched the #FSNCampusTour in which we spent two days visiting the Universities of Dundee, Stirling, Glasgow and Edinburgh. In doing so we supported the local campaigns for Chris Law, Steven Paterson, Patrick Grady and Tommy Sheppard and also had some excellent opportunities to chat with members and other students. We collected reasons why students were voting SNP in the General Election and got lots of very positive and interesting examples.
We also spent time campaigning for other candidates during the general election including Kirsten Oswald in East Renfrewshire and Angus Robertson in Moray. Both sadly lost their seats in the election but it was a pleasure to give our support to two of our best candidates and we wish both of them and all others who lost out all the very best for the future.
